The Washington Department of Health is still investigating this month’s E. coli outbreak that forced a Seattle restaurant to close temporarily. The Matador in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood has now reopened, but the source of the E. coli that sickened several patrons remains a mystery. Meanwhile, food safety advocates say this latest scare underscores the need for a promised restaurant grading system to be implemented quickly by public health officials.

The e. coli outbreak tied to Chipotle restaurants in the Pacific Northwest continues to expand. Twenty-five people in Washington and 12 in Oregon have confirmed infections, with dozens more suspected.

All 43 Chipotle restaurants in Washington State and the Portland area are closed while public health officials investigate the outbreak.

A Washington creamery is recalling raw goat milk marketed for humans and pets because of possible E. coli contamination.

St. John Creamery of Lake Stevens, Wash., is recalling both refrigerated and frozen raw goat milk sold in various-sized containers with brown caps. The product was sold in western Washington with sell-by dates of July 29 and later.
