Washington State Ferries hopes to restore service to normal on Saturday on Puget Sound.
Capt. George Capacci says that will be made possible by the return of the ferry Wenatchee, which has been in drydock in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Service has been disrupted since Tuesday when the ferry Tacoma lost power on the busy Seattle-Bainbridge Island route and a ferry was shifted from the Edmonds-Kingston route, causing delays for those riders.
Capacci says the unanticipated repairs to the Wenatchee and Tacoma came at a time when two other ferries are out of service for scheduled maintenance. In a conference call with reporters Thursday he called the situation unprecedented.
As part of the shuffle, service is canceled Thursday and Friday on the run between Anacortes and Sidney, British Columbia.
