Soak Up That Sun! Cooling Trend, Clouds Ahead

Soak up that sun while you still can.

The spell of higher-than-normal temperatures and warm, dry weather is coming to an end, says KPLU weather expert Cliff Mass.

“It’ll be nice, but we’re going downhill," said Mass, a professor of atmospheric science at the University of Washington. “It’s been a really warm, dry period. But that’s going to change. Today is the last all-sun day."

More persistent clouds are moving in and will be in the forecast day after day in the week ahead. But it will still be pleasant, says Mass.

"We're going from mid-80s to low 70s. So you'll notice it," Mass said. "It's going to feel very different."

Mass says the change is due to an upper-level trough moving in.
