Opponents of gay marriage rally at the Washington Statehouse.

Gay marriage opponents gathered at Washington statehouse on Monday to oppose legislation that would allow same-sex couples to marry.

Participants at this “Stand up for Marriage” rally also waved flags and held signs that read: “One man, one woman – for life.”

Dolores Campos of the Tri-Cities bused to Olympia with members of her church. She believes allowing gay couples to marry sends the wrong message to the youth of Washington.

“Kids will become very confused and it will create problems," Campos says. "It will create problems in the schools.”

Democratic State Senator Mary Margaret Haugen Monday announced she will vote for a gay marriage bill. That means there are now enough votes to pass it in the Washington Senate. The House also has the votes.

Opponents vow to put a repeal referendum on the fall ballot.
