Recently, guitarist, Bucky Pizzarelli visited Seattle to play a series of shows with Northwest gypsy jazz band, Pearl Django. On a cold January day, they all came into the KPLU studios to play… and things warmed up fast.
At age 88, Bucky has been playing guitar for almost 70 years. Since WWII he’s backed up countless artists in recording sessions, worked with big bands, participated in The Tonight Show band with Skitch Henderson and Doc Severinson and has made a number of great recordings.
He’s one of the few masters of the 7-string guitar and the father of guitarist/vocalist, John Pizzarelli and bassist, Martin Pizzarelli. He’s a wonderful soloist and the best rhythm guitarist in the business.
