Washington CoastSavers is coordinating its annual post Independence Day beach clean up. In past years, the group reports tens of tons of fireworks debris has been collected from Washington's south coast beaches following Fourth of July celebrations.
Here's where to go if you want to help on the morning of July 5th:
Long Beach Peninsula Check-in will be at all major beach approaches from 9:30 a.m. until 11: a.m. Grassroots Garbage Gangis the clean up crew.
Twin Harbors/Westport Check-in will be at Schafer Road near Twin Harbors State Park from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The Seattle Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation will have a BBQ for volunteers at Westhaven State Park.
Ocean Shores Area Registration stations will be at Chance a La Mer Beach Approach, Ocean City Ocean Beach Approach and Pacific Beach State Park. All will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.
Washington CoastSavers says on July 5th, 2015, when Independence Day fell on the weekend, over 120 tons of trash was collected off the southern beaches of Washington.
