We’re almost to the halfway point for college football. Both teams in Washington are undefeated and highly ranked. A lot of fans are already looking ahead to this year’s Apple Cup, when the Washington Huskies host the Washington State Cougars.

KNKX sports commentator Art Thiel talked about how both teams stack up.

'Could Be Biggest Game In Apple Cup History'

With both UW and WSU at 5-0 and facing Pac-12 conference teams this weekend, the big question is how long can both teams go without a loss?

Thiel said it's likely that UW will be undefeated this year.

Under the leadership of quarterback Jake Browning and coach Chris Petersen, he said the Huskies are fulfilling expectations following last year's appearance in the College Football Playoffs.

Thiel said WSU faces some tough competition on the road in five of the remaining seven games and may drop a game or two. But they have proven leaders in quarterback Luke Falk and coach Mike Leach.

Just the mention that both teams could be undefeated when they meet in Seattle the Saturday after Thanksgiving, has fans on both sides excited.

"If they're both undefeated, that Apple Cup week...is going to be so big, we're going to think it's a Mount Rainier eruption!" Thiel joked.

"This game is going to have a lot of local energy, a lot of national attention, and it could be the biggest game in Apple Cup history."

"I hope it happens because it's a writer's dream. This will be a lot of fun!"
