Nine-year-old Hit by Stolen Car in Seattle

Seattle Police are seeking information about a hit-and-run driver whose stolen car jumped a curb and hit a 9-year-old girl.

The girl - who was walking on the sidewalk near the intersection of Denny and Dexter with her mother - is being treated at Harborview Medical Center after she was hurt late yesterday (Monday) afternoon. Seattle fire officials say her condition is serious but not life threatening.

Both the girl's legs were broken according to KING-TV.

Police have recovered the stolen vehicle where it was abandoned a few blocks away.

 

Two Separate Accidents Kill Three on I-90 Near Cle Elum

A 15-year old girl has died and three other people are injured after their car veered off Interstate 90 and crashed into a tree.

The Washington State Patrol says the crash occured around 10:30 p.m. Sunday about six miles west of Cle Elum.

The Patrol says Brittney Davis was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Marita Davis, and passengers Jayden Davis, 6, and Kaycee Davis, 8 were hospitalized with injuries.

All are from Yakima, but the patrol did not provide information on how they were related; however, the Kittitas Valley Community Hospital told the Associated Press that the woman and the 6-year-old were mother and son.

Meantime, the State Patrol is searching for witnesses to anothter fatal weekend bus crash in the same area. Two bus passengers from Pasco died in the Saturday accident involving a tour bus that rolled and came to rest on its side.The Tri-City Herald reports the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

 

Two killed in Tacoma house fire

Two people have died in an early morning house fire in Tacoma.

KIRO-TV reports firefighters were called to the home around midnight. The fire apparently started in the living room and smoke filled the house.

Firefighters got the flames out quickly, but found two peopledead upstairs.

A neighbor told a KIRO-TV reporter than a woman lived in the home with her 2- or 3-year-old boy.

Firefighters haven't released details about who lived in the home or what caused the fire.
