There’s lots of sun in the weekend forecast, but a glimmer of rain on the horizon too, says KPLU weather expert Cliff Mass.
“At least for a few days, mid-week,” Mass says there will be some precipitation to reckon with.
The ridge of high pressure over the coast that has been locking in weather patterns for weeks now will strengthen over the weekend, “bringing filtered sunlight over us as cirrus streams around the ridge,” Mass said, referring to the light, wispy kind of clouds we can expect.
Temperatures will still get up to around 60 degrees on Friday. And there is no chance of rain in western Washington.
“If you want to get into the mid-60s, just go south to the Willamette Valley and it’s warmer down there,” he said.
Dry Weekend
Saturday he says will be similar to Friday, “maybe a little bit sunnier, temperatures around 60, maybe low 60s,” he said.
Sunday the temps will rev up, so that’s the best day to be outside. “It can get into the low 60s, sun – beautiful day, “ Mass said.
Rain Beginning Tuesday, Warm Sun By Thursday
Monday will continue the weekend trend of sunshine with some wispy clouds. Late Monday and Tuesday, Mass says the ridge of high pressure will shift a bit once again, “and it looks like later on Tuesday into Wednesday we’ll get some real clouds and believe it or not, some real precipitation,” Mass said.
He says the lowlands could get a few tenths of an inch of rain and there could be “maybe even an inch or two in the mountains, from Wednesday into Thursday morning,” he says.
But the ridge of pressure that means sun around here comes back again around Thursday of next week, Mass predicts.
“So it looks like there will be a warm-up late in the week and amazingly enough, the temperatures could get even warmer, peaking into the mid-60s by the time we get into Friday and Saturday of next week.”
