SRJO Plays Quincy Jones And Ray Charles On Jazz Northwest

As part of its 20th anniversary season, the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra played a concert of music by two of the greatest musicians to come out of Seattle's Jackson Street Era, Quincy Jones and Ray Charles.

The concert, which was also part of the Earshot Festival, included guest appearances by Delvon Lamarr on Hammond B3 organ, and vocalist Reggie Goings. Highlights aired exclusively on 88.5 KPLU on Sunday, December 7 at 2 PM Pacific and streaming at kplu.org.

Included on the program are such hits as One Mint Julep, The Quintessence, Them That Got, and I'm Gonna Move to the Outskirts of Town.  The performance was recorded live at The Kirkland Performance Center on November 2 and featured many of Seattle's top jazz musicians directed by Clarence Acox and Michael Brockman.

Jazz Northwest is recorded and produced by Jim Wilke, Hatchcover Productions for 88.5 KPLU. The program will also be available as a streaming podcast at kplu.org following the broadcast.
