The right way to load the dishwasher

One of the most common flash points of domestic bickering is the optimum method for loading a dishwasher.

And now I'm admitting to my wife, the  Lovely & Talented Cheryl DeGroot, right here on the World Wide Web that I was  – arghhh!  wrong and she was  – gackkk!!... right.  But only about the dishwasher.  I think I've been right about everything else.  For years.  Anyway...

I've always maintained the perfectly reasonable position that it's better to load the utensils business ends down. Then when it's time to unload you can grab them by their handles instead of the parts that go into people's mouths.

DeGroot has always stubbornly insisted that it's better to have all those blades and tines and spoony parts reaching for the sky so they'll be better exposed to the water.

It kills me to admit that she was right but she was.  As I learned from Nancy in this week's Food for Thought. Click "Listen" and hear me humbled.  I know I'll never hear the end of this from DeGroot,

I invited her onto  the show so she could gloat about  her triumph but Cheryl would not get up out of an electric chair to speak into a live microphone.  Even though at home she's the Oscar and I'm the Felix, when it comes to the Dept. of Public Speaking, I'm the Penn and she's the Teller.

Tell us your tales of Dishwasher Disagreement below.
