A legend of the Pacific NW blues scene, Curtis Salgado’s long list of credits include co-leading the Robert Cray Band, being the inspiration for the Blues Brothers, fronting the band Roomful of Blues, singing with Santana, and leading his own bands.
Curtis and the band graciously took time from their busy tour to stop by for a live Blue Plate Special Studio Session.
At The Blues Foundation’s Blues Music Awards this year, Curtis picked up three awards: Soul Blues Album of the Year for his latest THE BEAUTIFUL LOWDOWN, Song of the Year for Walk A Mile In My Blues, and his 4th Soul Blues Male Artist of The Year award.
Curtis wrote most of the songs for the new album, and we talked about the joy and pain of songwriting. He also acknowledged the humbling aspects of his recent major health issues, and appreciated the love and support he’s received from fans and friends. He’s a survivor, and not ready to give up anytime soon. Curtis certainly sounds strong in this session!
