This week's Jazz Northwest features several new releases as well as news of upcoming jazz events including a Celebration of Life for the late Buddy Catlett (at Jazz Alley Monday night), and Roosevelt Jazz Band's annual performance of the Ellington-Strayhorn Jazz Nutcracker (next weekend at RHS).

Among the new releases on this program are The Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra's performance of Benny Carter's Kansas City Suite and Thomas Marriott's Urban Folklore.  News about upcoming holiday jazz concerts is included in this show along with information about other live performances in the next week.

Jazz Northwest is produced by Jim Wilke exclusively for 88.5 KPLU and kplu.org.  The program is also available as a podcast following the broadcast at 2 PM Pacific Sunday afternoons on KPLU.   Next week (12/7):  highlights from a concert by The Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra playing music by Quincy Jones and Ray Charles, whose early careers coincided in Seattle.

Currently Jim has been producing Jazz Northwest for KNKX since 1988. This weekly program focuses on the regional jazz scene and frequently includes performances Jim records on location for Jazz Northwest.
