Soak in Friday’s sun and spring-like temperatures while you can, because they won’t stick around this weekend, says KPLU weather expert Cliff Mass.
Mass says snow is once again in the forecast for parts of western Washington.
“We are going to see, in some ways, a repeat of last week,” said Mass, who teaches atmospheric sciences at the University of Washington.
Cold air will move in Friday night and Saturday, and some areas in the foothills of the Cascades will see strong gusts.
“Winds are going to really pick up in Enumclaw, North Bend, places like that,” said Mass.
Saturday will be a cooler, mostly cloudy with not much precipitation.
“But the big question after we get cooler is will we have snow? And there are some issues there,” said Mass.
Sunday will bring an approaching front, just like last week, and cooler air will hover over us.
“Temperatures are on the edge of snow. So it is possible that on Sunday into Monday morning there could be rain with snow or even snow over portions of western Washington,” said Mass. “The probability of that increases as we go north toward Bellingham, just like last week.”
But, Mass stresses, temperatures are expected to be just cold enough for snow, so snow isn’t a sure deal.
“So it’s something that’s on the edge; we have to watch it. And people should keep that in mind,” he said.
