Olympia and points south could see a dusting of snow on Thursday night, but not enough to accumulate, says the National Weather Service.
The region might see more snow on Saturday, but exactly where and how much remain unclear, according to KPLU weather expert Cliff Mass.
“The big weather story will wait until Saturday," said Mass on his blog. "As the warm front approaches, the cold air will hold for several hours, resulting in inches of snow and perhaps a half-foot in some lucky locations. But eventually, the warm front will push through, producing a melting slushy mess for a few hours.”
Any snow is likely to turn into rain by Sunday, according to the Weather Service.
Until then, the cold will likely stick around. Temperatures are expected to stay 15 to 20 degrees cooler than normal until Friday, the Weather Service said.
