Join Us At The 88.5 KNKX Community Meeting In Bellingham

As part of the Save KPLU campaign’s community outreach, the station held informational meetings in a number of Western Washington communities.  88.5 knkx is returning to those communities to meet and thank listeners, and talk about the evolution and future plans of the “new” 88.5 FM.

The first community meeting will be in Bellingham on Saturday, November 12 from 2-3:30 p.m. in the Mount Baker Theatre's Encore Room.  There will be a short video presentation and a Q&A with 88.5 knkx’s general manager, director of content and development director.

The Mount Baker Theatre is located at 104 North Commercial Street (Bellingham, WA 98225).  Please enter the Encore Room on the W. Champion Street side.

88.5 knkx signed on August 31, 2016 as an independent, community-licensed station after a successful fundraising campaign by Friends of 88.5 FM, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, to purchase KPLU-FM from Pacific Lutheran University.  The station received more than 24,000 donations from over 18,000 donors contributing to the $7 million goal, which was reached on May 26, 2016.  This unprecedented community fundraising effort ensures the survival of an independent, local newsroom, hand-picked and professionally curated jazz and blues, and a continuing commitment to local music education.  The Friends of 88.5 FM board of directors is responsible for all governance, including fiscal oversight, compliance with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and policy decisions for 88.5 FM.
