Interior Dept. denies claim in Olympic goat goring

PORT ANGELES, Wash. — The Interior Department has denied a $10 million wrongful death claim from the family of a man who was gored by a mountain goat in Olympic National Park.

A department lawyer says there's no evidence of negligence in the October 2010 death of Bob Boardman.

The Peninsula Daily News reportsthe family of the 63-year-old Port Angeles man is expected to sue the government in federal court in Tacoma. A lawyer for his wife Susan Chadd says he'll decide next week when to sue.

The Tacoma lawyer, John Messina, says there's ample evidence of negligence. He says the goat that killed Boardman was a rogue that the park should have done something about.
