How healthy is your county? Best and worst of Wash. state

University of Wisconsin Population Heath Institute

Kittitas County is the healthiest county in Washington state, according to an annual report by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute released this week.

The report is based on a variety of health-related measures of life quality, including the rate of death before age 75, income, high school graduation rate, air and water quality, smoking rate, and obesity.

Last year, Kittitas County ranked second after San Juan County, but the two swapped places this year.

King County ranked sixth on the list just behind Whatcom County — both same as last year.  Thurston County which was the 14th healthiest county last year, moved up to ninth, bumping back Snohomish County one slot to 10th. Pierce County’s ranking remained unchanged at 26th.

Ferry County ranked last. Mason and Grays Harbor counties also appeared low on the list, placing 33rd and 36th, respectively.
