Boeing touts outsourcing for suppliers

Boeing is encouraging its suppliers to attend a workshop next month to learn how to outsource business to Mexico.

The Seattle Times ( http://tinyurl.com/8g9p46h ) reports that a company official wrote a letter to suppliers of the aerospace company asking them to attend the Nov. 15 workshop in Chicago.

Tom Wroblewski is president of District 751 of the International Association of Machinists. He said outsourcing work hurts efforts to build the domestic labor force and that his union plans to raise the issue with Boeing.

Boeing spokesman Larry Wilson said "it's a matter of routine business" to keep the company's suppliers informed of opportunities to expand their capacity around the world.
