Boeing says it has finished more than half of the testing on its proposed battery fix for the 787, with the rest of the ground and flight tests coming in the next several days.
Boeing spokesman Marc Birtel says results have been in line with the early testing Boeing did as it developed the fix. Ground testing is continuing at Boeing labs in Seattle.
Boeing says a flight to demonstrate the battery fix to the Federal Aviation Administration will happen soon. It says a separate 787 test flight Wednesday is unrelated to the battery issues.
Boeing has designed what it hopes is a fix for the smoldering batteries that led to the planes being grounded in mid-January. The redesign will need FAA approval before airlines fly the planes again.
