Auburn Team Leads Off Little League World Series

The Auburn All-Stars will play in their first ever Little League World Series on Friday, August 20th.
The Auburn All-Stars will play in their first ever Little League World Series on Friday, August 20th.

The Auburn All-Stars will take the field Friday for one of the biggest games of their lives. The group of 11 and 12-year old baseball players has made it to the Little League World Series.

It's the first time a team from Auburn has ever been to the tournament.

Right off the bat, the Auburn All-Stars will have to show their stuff. The team is first up in the series against Fairfield, Connecticut.

That's the only rival they know for sure. After that, they could face off against teams from as far away as Japan or Mexico.

Parents say they didn't expect their kids to even make it past the district tournament when the season began. But the babyfaced batters came out swinging.

They not only won their district, state and regional tournaments. They did so undefeated.

The coach says it's not because of any secret weapons or standout players. He says every one of the boys is top notch.

The team will make its World Series debut Friday at 10 a.m. PST.

Whether they win or lose, they'll have a chance to play a second game this weekend.
