Bulgarian born singer and songwriter Ana Velinova trained in Sophia, L.A. and Boston and has performed in New York, Toronto, Vancouver and Victoria and elsewhere.
Now a resident of Seattle, she recently sang in the Art of Jazz series at The Seattle Art Museum with an all-star Seattle quartet including Marc Seales, Mark Taylor, Jeff Johnson and D'vonne Lewis.
Excerpts from the concert aired on Jazz Northwest on Sunday, May 24 at 2 PM Pacific. Included are songs by Gershwin, João Bosco and two originals by Ana Velinova. The Quartet plays two by Wayne Shorter and Duke Ellington.
The Art of Jazz series at the Seattle Art Museum is presented by Earshot Jazz on the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the Brotman Forum at SAM downtown. Next in the series will be French-Canadian pianist Marianne Trudel's Trifolia on June 11 as part of the trio's West Coast tour.
