Allstate: Seattle's Drivers Worse than Portland's, Tacoma's

Seattle drivers aren’t exactly the best drivers, according to a new report by the insurance company Allstate.

The company reviewed its claims data to compile a list of cities based on driving performance.

Seattle’s drivers, with an average of 7.8 years between accidents, ranked 160th, having fallen six spots since last year.

Fort Collins, Colorado, where drivers average 13.9 years between accidents—28.2 percent less likely than the national average of 10 years—topped the list for the third time in nine years. Boise, Idaho ranked second, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota came in third.

Spokane ranked 45th, Tacoma came in 144th, and Portland ranked 154th.

Allstate said its policies accounts for approximately 10 percent of all auto policies in the U.S. The company said it analyzed reports of internal property damage for two years to make sure external factors like weather and road conditions did not impact the findings.
