40,000 Gallons of Sewage Spill Off Everett

Everett officials say a power outage Saturday caused 40,000 gallons of sewage to spill into the bay off the city.

City spokeswoman Marla Carter says a power outage around 9 a.m. Saturday at Everett sewer lift station caused the sewage to spill into Port Gardner Bay. The outage was fixed a half-hour later.

She says the city has notified the Department of Ecology, Department of Health, Port of Everett and City of Mukilteo.

The city also posted signs at Howarth Park and Pigeon Creek beaches advising people to stay out of the water.
